New Rochelle, NY—Transgender Health, a new peer-reviewed, open access journal launching in 2015 from Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishers, will deliver authoritative research and clinical studies exclusively focused on advancing the understanding of the health and health care issues and concerns of this unique patient population.
“I want to personally thank Caitlyn Jenner for her courage and frankness which will inspire both patients and medical professionals to recognize the urgent need to deliver the best care to the transgender community,” said Mary Ann Liebert, founder, president, and CEO of the company that bears her name. “This journal will move the needle forward in supporting and improving transgender health care.”
Multidisciplinary in scope, Transgender Health will address the health care needs of transgender individuals throughout the lifespan and identify gaps in knowledge as well as priority areas where policy development and research are needed to achieve health care parity. Coverage will include disparities in treatment and barriers to care, health services research including cultural competency, mental health and well-being, reproductive health and assisted reproduction, sexually transmitted infections and preventive measures, and best practices, protocols, and guidelines to ensure optimal care.
