Overcoming LGBTQ youth homelessness in The South (VIDEO)

Watch as YouTube content creator Raymond Braun shares the touching story of Ryan Peterson, a former addict that had been displaced at the age of 16 and forced to live on the streets.

Raymond met Ryan during GLAAD’s Southern Stories Tour where he captured personal stories from LGBT Southerners that have experienced the culture gap of acceptance in this region.  Homeless, alone, and recovering, Ryan explains to Raymond how organizations like Lost-n-Found Atlanta gave him a second chance and how other LGBT youth can find love and support at similar organizations.

“I had the amazing opportunity to travel through the Deep South with GLAAD to hear stories from LGBTQ people as well as their friends, families, and allies,” wrote Braun on YouTube. “Ryan’s story made such an impression on me that I wanted to make a separate video just focusing on his tremendous strength and spirit. I am so proud of Ryan and hope his story inspires others. As Ryan says, we are as strong as we allow ourselves to be. We are strong, we are powerful, and we can do this.”

Watch above as Ryan talks to Raymond about his personal journey and how no one is truly alone in their struggle.
