Netflix’s latest binge-fest is a science fiction mindbender from the Wachowskis called Sense8. Eight different people from all over the world are mysteriously psychically connected by a dying woman (Daryl Hannah) pursued by black-clad villains. The thriller aspect of the story is less interesting than the individual dramas of the eight heroes, with lesbian transgender woman Nomi Marks (Jamie Clayton, an actual transgender woman) and British DJ Riley (Tuppence Middleton) the most intriguing, at least based on the first couple of episodes. Because it’s the Wachowskis (The Matrix, Bound, Cloud Atlas), the action is extraordinarily directed and the art direction impeccable.
