Continuing an annual tradition, the AntiViral Research Center (AVRC) at University of California, San Diego is offering 250 free weekend passes to the 2015 San Diego LGBT Pride Festival for persons who undergo free, confidential HIV testing. The program is part of an on-going study to detect early and acute HIV infections in the community.
The “Testing for Tickets” campaign uses these local HIV testing programs: Lead the Way and The Early Test. Beginning June 15, the two-day passes to the festival will be offered to qualifying participants while supplies last.
“As we move toward this year’s Pride festivities, we want to remind people of the importance of getting tested, knowing their HIV status and using safer sex practices,” said David Rodriguez, HIV testing program manager for the AVRC.
Tickets are expected to run out before the actual festival, which occurs July 18-19. All members of the community are encouraged to get tested and know their status. “Testing for Tickets” will take place at the following locations:
