DiversityInc CEO Luke Visconti was quoted as saying, “The competition for the DiversityInc ranking has increased with more than 1,000 companies participating.” According to the report, the Top 50 companies which had more diversity also outperformed the market. These companies did have better corporate governance and created opportunities for innovation. And according to Rhonda Crichlow, vice president and head of U.S. Diversity & Inclusion for Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation, “Novartis believed in diversity and inclusion as an integral part of their daily work life and viewed sustainable business practices and customer needs as the focus of company activities.”
According to DiversityInc, the ranking are based on four categories each with their own criteria: Talent Pipeline: workforce breakdown, recruitment, diameter of existing talent and structures. Equitable Talent Development: employee resource groups, mentoring, philanthropy, movement and fairness. CEO/Leadership Commitment: accountability for results, personal communications and visibility and Supplier Diversity: spend with companies owned by people from underrepresented groups, accountability and support.
There are also lists broken down by sectors such as the Diversity Inc Top 10 Companies for LGBT Employees. Last year, LGBT Weekly reported that AT&T topped the list. And while they have retained their status in the top three, this year, Wells Fargo moved up a spot with Time Warner rounding out third place. Other winners include Marriott International, EY, Eli Lilly and Company, KPMG, Accenture, MassMutual Financial Group and PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
