Strategic Alliance to Provide Scholarships to Aspiring Entrepreneurs

Today the GSDBA Charitable Foundation announced it will form a strategic alliance with the Greater San Diego Business Association. The GSDBA Charitable Foundation has for the last 13 years raised funds to provide college scholarships for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth. The Foundation was originally a part of the Greater San Diego Business Association, the alliance brings the two organizations back together to leverage resources, create efficiencies and grow the scholarship fund.

“We are excited to announce an alliance between our two organizations,” said Stampp Corbin, President of the GSDBA Charitable Foundation.  “While the endowment from the Hillcrest Mardi Gras will remain as a major fundraising activity for the scholarship fund, the alliance will increase the number and amount of scholarships each year.” The GSDBA Charitable Foundation has provided over $130,000 in college scholarships over the last thirteen years.

The Greater San Diego Business Association is California’s largest LGBT business organization, representing the interests of more than 550 members throughout San Diego County and is committed to supporting and encouraging the continued success of each of its member businesses, as well as the growth of the San Diego LGBT business community. “I believe this alliance will help connect our entrepreneur and business leader membership to the future of business in our community; aspiring entrepreneurs,” said Barbra Blake, CEO of the Greater San Diego Business Association. “We want to engage with LGBT youth as they begin to make college decisions to ensure that they consider entrepreneurship as a career path.”

The alliance follows a trend in the non-profit industry where organizations with similar or complimentary missions are reaping benefits from mutually beneficial partnerships.
