Majority of South Carolinians find marriage equality has ‘No Negative Impact’

South Carolina has had marriage equality on the books since November, and voters are doing just fine, according to a recent Public Policy Polling report, writes Maureen McCarty on the HRC Blog.

In fact, 60 percent of South Carolina voters reported that the legalization of marriage equality in the state has not negatively impacted on their lives.

This is consistent not only with states that once voted to write same-sex marriage bans into state constitutions, but also mirrors national trends.

According to HRC’s recent national poll commissioned to gauge voter attitudes ahead of a Supreme Court ruling on marriage equality, an overwhelming 60 percent of likely voters support marriage equality.

Do you stand in support of marriage equality? Then now is time to write your name in the history books. In advance of the US Supreme Court’s hearing on a number of marriage equality cases, HRC is filing an amicus brief on behalf of the fair-minded Americans.

Join HRC and the more than 100,000 Americans who support full, nationwide marriage equality. Read and sign The People’s Brief before it is filed with the U.S. Supreme Court this March.
