A new poll shows that more than three in five people will vote to legalise same-sex marriage in the Republic of Ireland reports Gay Star News.
Just two months before a referendum on its recognition of marriage equality, a Millward Brown survey, published yesterday in the Sunday Independent, show 62% of voters are set to back a change in the country’s constitution.
Kieran Rose, chair of the Gay and Lesbian Equality Network (GLEN), said: ‘It is a wonderful and powerful Valentine’s message about the value we all place on loving and committed relationships in our society.’
‘We will do all that we can to ensure that this is a positive campaign which focuses on the value of marriage to everyone in Irish society and how extending access to marriage to lesbian and gay people will strengthen that value,’ he said.
Pro-equality supporters face trying to persuade the 22% of voters who are undecided in the run up to the referendum. 16% polled said they would be voting against a same-sex marriage amendment.
