SDWC to share stage with Frenchie Davis at the Balboa Theatre in upcoming concert

Frenchie Davis to join SDWC in 'Broadway Our Way'

SAN DIEGO – Frenchie Davis will join the San Diego Women’s Chorus (SDWC) for an exclusive performance at the Balboa Theatre  Sunday, May 17 at 7 p.m. The concert, Broadway, Our Way is a fundraising event benefiting the Lesbian Health Initiative of the San Diego Human Dignity Foundation.

Broadway, Our Way will present songs from the stage that give voice to the pivotal experiences and emotions of the human experience through the lens of women’s lives. From tender torch songs to spectacular showstoppers and everything in between, the audience will journey through love, loss, trials and triumphs. Broadway, Our Way will include some of the most beloved songs from contemporary and classic stage productions, including Funny Girl, Into the Woods, and Wicked, as well as some less obvious choices that will be pleasant surprises for the audience. The entire program is a fresh twist on the typical Broadway-themed revue, with exciting and beautiful vocal harmonies you don’t get from solo performances.

“San Diego Human Dignity Foundation is so incredibly proud to partner once again with the San Diego Women’s Chorus for this powerful event,” said SDHDF Executive Director John Brown. “Broadway, Our Way will be a tremendous event to remember. The wonderfully talented San Diego Women’s Chorus teamed with the one and only Frenchie Davis promises to deliver a diverse and delightful show that all will enjoy.”

“Delving into the rich song library from the stages of Broadway, we will sing through the stages of our lives — the roles we play, the characters we meet, the loves we cast, the families we design,” said Artistic Director Kathleen Hansen. “We’ve also selected songs that touch the themes SDWC is known for: women’s empowerment, community, compassion, challenging stereotypes, political and personal peace and, of course, love – friendly, familial and romantic.”

“As with our concert last spring, ‘Songs of Protest, Songs of Peace’ with the Indigo Girls, we are thrilled to have a special guest that is the perfect fit for both the theme and the cause,” said Board President Heather Robert. “Obviously, Frenchie Davis’ vocal talent is astounding and she’s going to bring the house down, but what makes her the perfect special guest for this event is the way she uses her voice when she’s off stage to speak up for justice and equality for women, people in the LGBT community and people of color.”
