San Diego Triathlon Series hosts kick off party Jan. 31

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – All aspiring, curious, and experienced triathletes and their families are invited to a free informational kick off event and luncheon hosted by The San Diego Triathlon Series Saturday, Jan. 31 from 10am to 2pm. The event will be held at Rehab United, located at 3323 Carmel Mountain Road in Sorrento Valley. Preregistration is suggested.

“It’s January and time for new resolutions, and there’s no better place to get started in triathlon than here in San Diego, its birthplace.” said Rick Kozlowski, of KOZ Events, the founder of The San Diego Triathlon Series. “We’re here to help. Our kick off party will inspire, educate, build community, and help aspiring and experienced athletes make new connections. It includes local tri clubs, information about the Challenged Athletes Foundation, and even a free lunch.”

The format of the Jan. 31 event is a drop-in expo style, with informational booths and guest speakers appearing throughout the day. A schedule of speakers, topics, and times is available on the new San Diego Triathlon Series website, www.sdtriseries.com.

The San Diego Triathlon Series was founded by KOZ Events and includes four events: The Spring Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon (May 3, 2015), The San Diego International Triathlon (June 28, 2015), The Solana Beach Triathlon and Duathlon (August 2, 2015), and the XTERRA Wetsuits Mission Bay Triathlon (October 4, 2015). Each event supports the Challenged Athletes Foundation – Operation Rebound.

Kozlowski recently stepped down from day-to-day management of his 32-year-old company and is turning the reins over to handpicked successors, Carrie and Tobias Panek, two San Diego natives who founded GranFondo Cycling Tours and produce the well-known Campagnolo San Diego GranFondo cycling event.

“We are excited and thankful to join the KOZ Events family, we look forward to many years ahead working in our community and with our charity partners, to promote active lifestyles and provide fulfilling and meaningful  life experiences through sports, ” stated Tobias Panek.

In 2015, the Paneks will enhance the San Diego Triathlon Series by adding a Membership Program, Triathlon Clinics Series, and the Race for a Reason Program. More information is available on the series Web site.
