SAN DIEGO – Music, fun and refreshments will be in-store for prospective singers attending the San Diego Chorus Global Open House Wednesday, Jan. 28 from 6:45 .pm. to 9:30 p.m. at the Chorus’ rehearsal space at the Casa del Prado, Room 207 in Balboa Park. All interested singers who would like to join the chorus or who want to learn more are welcome to attend.
The San Diego Chorus is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, an organization of nearly 25,000 women worldwide who sing four-part a cappella harmony, barbershop style. “January is Global Open House month for Sweet Adelines International when chapters around the world host open houses to invite prospective members,” says San Diego Chorus Co-director Kathleen Hansen. “If you love to sing, this is your opportunity to experience the sound, the music education, and the friendship offered with membership in the 85-member San Diego Chorus. Check us out! It can be a life-changing experience.”
Hansen added that for aspiring singers, the Global Open House will give them the opportunity to train with current chorus members in a lively special rehearsal where they will learn a song together. The rest of the special night will feature food, fun and camaraderie.
Members of the San Diego Chorus share a love for music and singing barbershop harmony. Any woman who loves to sing, with or without vocal training, will find a part that fits her voice range with the help of the chorus’ musical leaders and director(s).
The San Diego Chorus performs concerts throughout the year and offers its talent for entertainment in the community at civic events and charitable functions.
