‘San Diego IndieFest’ – March 2015 date announced

After two years at Liberty Station, San Diego IndieFest creators/producers Alicia Champion and Danielle LoPresti are transitioning the festival to City Heights Saturday, March 28, as part of a vision to help revitalize, strengthen and celebrate the city’s most culturally rich neighborhood.

California State Assembly Speaker, Toni Atkins, said, “I can attest to the singular effect that IndieFest had on the early years of North Park’s renaissance,” and that communities like City Heights are “especially appropriate for cross-generational, cross-cultural activities like IndieFest, that reach across boundaries and strengthen the social fabric of neighborhoods.”

In collaboration with The City Heights Community Development Corporation, San Diego IndieFest 9 will feature The International Village Oasis – a “V.A.P.” space (Very Awake People, because all people are important) that will sample many of the area’s diverse cuisines with shaded seating.
The event will take place at Officer Jeremy Henwood Memorial Park, adjacent to the City Heights Public Library, and will continue to be family friendly, wildly eclectic and offer a wide array of visual art, activities and of course, lots of amazing music. As always, IndieFest will feature the kind of roster you’ve come to expect – formidable Indie revolutionaries that excite and inspire.

San Diego IndieFest is dedicated to affirming the power of transformation that comes out of recognizing the independent spirit within us. Whether that manifests in music, film, art, business or community activism, it takes work, risk and dedication. Yet so many of these creatives go unnoticed by the general public. On IndieFest weekend, you can come empty and leave fully charged as you discover one after another of these remarkable artists and change-makers.

IndieFest 9 will feature a dynamic new location and will be more affordable than ever, but their goals are the same: to lift spirits, open minds and empower toward our most inventive, persevering selves.
