SAN DIEGO – Feeding the Soul Foundation, a local non-profit that creates concerts for causes, hosted the HoliDAZE show  Dec. 20 at the Star Theater in Oceanside, benefiting Rock N’ Roll Camp for Girls Los Angeles—a non-profit empowering young girls through music education to “rock” in life.

Surprise host for the evening was award winning, singer/songwriter and San Diego favorite, Jason Mraz  and co-host Bushwalla.  The popular musician is a long-time friend of the non-profit and helped pull together an incredible line-up of local musicians to create a collaborative holiday show. The line-up included the festive musical stylings of Lee Coulter, MC Flow, Cody Lovaas, Dawn Mitschele, Tolan Shaw, Michael Tiernan and a Superband starring a complied list of highly sought after musicians Keith Benton (Bushwalla percussionist), Kevin Freeby (Jason Mraz bassist), Gabe Lehner (9 Theory), Andy Powers (Taylor Guitars), Chaska Potter (Raining Jane) and Mona Tavakoli (Raining Jane).

“We were so thrilled to once again work with Jason Mraz on such a wonderful and festive collaboration concert,” said Vallie Gilley, founder of Feeding the Soul Foundation. “He brings amazing talent, and welcomes these local musicians to join him on stage to participate in creative generosity. Together they created such a powerful evening of music that was a very special experience to see live.”

Over $8,000 was raised to benefit the Rock N’ Roll Camp for Girls Los Angeles. The non-profit inspires and motivates girls to stand up as women to find their voice through the love and beauty of music. The programs teaches girls everything from learning how to play an instrument to writing music and performing in front of a live audience. The Rock N’ Roll Camp for Girls Los Angeles creates a safe and strong environment for girls to pursue their musical dreams.

“Feeding the Soul Foundation has supported many organizations over the years and Rock N’ Roll Camp for Girls Los Angeles is one that has always been very near and dear to our hearts. Members of the night’s super band, Mona Tavakoli and Chaska Potter work directly with the non-profit, so it adds a little extra connection to the experience,” said Gilley. “Rock N’ Roll Camp for Girls Los Angeles understands that it takes a certain type of confidence to stand in front of a crowd, put yourself out there and perform. There are no better mentors and musicians to support these young women to have the confidence and self-esteem to become young musicians than these well-known artists who constantly get up on stage.”

The evening featured music by co-hosts, Mraz and Bushwalla who lead the night in entertaining, performing and engaging the audience all while introducing the lineup of featured local musicians such as San Diego Music Awards winner for Best New Artist, Cody Lovass, San Diego Music Awards winner for Best Singer/Songwriter, Dawn Mitschele, Raining Jane’s Chaska Potter and Mona Tavakoli and San Diego’s Michael Tiernan, Tolan Shaw, Lee Coulter and MC Flow.
