Are you ready to go ‘Home for the Holigays?’

Holiday time is fast approaching and New York based gay marketing agency Target 10 took a peek into the interesting family dynamics that occur at this time of the year and in particular the gay and lesbian experience of traveling home.

Target 10 asked 150 gays and lesbians about their holiday travels and developed a “Home for the Holigays” infographic based on the data they collected.

Points of note include:

– 90 percent of gays and lesbians in a relationship slept in the same bedroom when staying with their families for the holidays – even when home was outside the more progressive East and West Coast regions (see map at bottom)

– The majority of couples showed mostly unchanged levels of affection in front of family, whereas only about half of single respondents are even out to their entire family.

– 47 percent of singles used hookup apps like Scruff or Grindr while at home vs. 12 percent of those in relationships. However, both groups met someone from those apps at similar rate of about 25 percent.
