Update: Congressman Peters widens lead in 52nd District race

Congressman Peters continued to widen his lead over Republican challenger Carl DeMaio. With an additional 3,502 votes counted on Saturday, Peters expanded his lead to 4,771 votes, a 280 vote increase over his lead from Friday night. Since the beginning of the tabulation of the late mail-in and provisional ballots, Peters has led DeMaio in the vote count. This development mirrors Congressman Peters’ successful 2012 bid when he beat Congressman Brian Bilbray; the only difference is that Congresman Peters had a slight lead at the end of voting on election day in 2012.

Update Friday, November 7, 1014:

More updated results in the 52nd Congressional District race, Congressman Scott Peters substantially increased his lead over Republican challenger Carl DeMaio. With an additional 23,816 votes counted, the present vote count is Peters 92,410 (51.25%) and DeMaio 87,919 (48.75%).   An estimated 10,000 more ballots remain to be counted.
