In 2005, Lisa Kudrow’s first post-Friends show was a brilliant cringe-fest about a former sitcom star trying to make a comeback as the older lady in a ensemble sitcom about twentysomethings. Valerie Cherish was an absurd figure, vain, oblivious, and deluded of her nonexistent grandeur. The show was hilarious as a send up of both celebrity and Hollywood, but it was canceled too soon. Somehow, it’s back for another season, and I’m looking forward to being embarrassed for Valerie all over again.
