Today, marriage equality came to Wyoming, the Equality State. District Court Judge Skavdahl overturned its ban on same-sex marriage Friday, but stayed the decision for a full week to allow for an appeal. The state decided not to appeal, bringing an end to the stay a few days early.
The state filed its notice this morning a little before 10 a.m. MT that it would not be appealing last week’s ruling that same-sex couples could not be barred from marriage. Minutes later, Skavdahl issued an order ending his temporary stay of Friday’s decision, formally bringing marriage equality to Wyoming.
The Wyoming ruling brings to 32 the number of states that allow gay marriage.
