SAN DIEGO – Diversionary Theatre has teamed up with local improv legend Peggy Walkush for the premiere of The Big Gay Improv Show this upcoming Monday, Oct. 20 at 8 p.m. Audience attendees of the event will be wowed by an incredibly skilled team of San Diego improvisers as they present a montage of hilarious scenes that are imagined and realized on a moment’s notice inspired by the real life stories of two guest monologists from the LGBT community: LGBT activist “Big Mike” Phillips and renowned artist Liz Jardine.
Walkush had this to share on The Big Gay Improv Show:
“Audience members can look forward to getting to know two fascinating members of our community better, hearing their coming out stories, and then watching alternate versions of that reality played out on stage. Come with an open heart and mind and ready to laugh!”
On why she wanted to create this event to support the theatre:
“I’ve been an out lesbian in San Diego since 1986 so I have come to many Diversionary Theatre productions over the years. Now that I am on the performing end of things, it feels great to be able to donate my time to give back and help raise money for the theater.”
Featured improvisers are Peggy Walkush, Amy Lisewski, Martha Barnette, Maria Angelella, David Peabody and Mike Schramm.
Tickets are now available online at www.diversionary.org, by calling 619-220-0097 or in person by visiting 4545 Park Blvd. in San Diego. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door the night of the event.
