San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus ‘Holiday Spectacular’ tickets now on sale

SDGMC presents its Holiday Spectacular Dec. 13 and 14 at the Balboa Theatre.

SAN DIEGO – The award-winning San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus (SDGMC) is back with its celebrated annual Holiday Spectacular Saturday, Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 14 at 3 p.m. Once again, the show takes place at the festive Balboa Theatre in downtown San Diego.
“Our family-friendly show weaves the whimsical magic of traditional holiday songs together with the fun and frolic people have come to love and expect from our chorus,” said SDGMC Artistic Director RC Haus. “We’ll have lush, beautiful carols mixed in with familiar characters like Rudolph, the little drummer boy and many surprises!”
Among the show’s many holiday favorites are enchanting and unique arrangements of “Carol of the Bells,” “Variations on ‘Jingle Bells’,” ”God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen” and a special spirited medley of snowy classics “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “Sleigh Ride” and “Let it Snow!” Rumor has it that snow may even fall on the Balboa Theatre stage!
There will be a wonderful tribute to the Jewish New Year with “Bashana Haba ‘ah” and special appearances by our small ensemble, the Mood Swings, and their new 40-voice Chamber Chorale – the only group of its kind in San Diego. The Chorus will also present the beautifully moving “Light a Candle,” personally arranged by Haus.
Tickets are available at www.sdgmc.org or by calling the Balboa Theatre at 619-570-1100. Tickets start at $28 and range to $70 for preferred VIP seating. A $4 discount is available for seniors, students, active-duty military and groups of 10 or more. Save per ticket fees by purchasing in person at San Diego Theatres Ticketing Services at Third Avenue and B Street across the plaza from the Civic Theatre weekdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Balboa Theatre is located at 868 Fourth Ave. adjacent to the Horton Plaza shopping center in San Diego. Prepaid parking for $10 is available when purchasing tickets or in the theater lobby.
SDGMC has entertained San Diego audiences for nearly 30 years. With more than 200 members, it is one of the largest gay choruses in the world. The group’s official mission is to create a positive musical experience through exciting performances that engage audiences, build community support and provide a dynamic force for social change.
