A 19-year-old man who tagged the downtown courthouse with graffiti has been sentenced to 180 days in jail and ordered to pay $16,071 in damages.
Because Francisco Canseco received credit for 109 days already spent in jail, Canseco was released from jail Aug. 23. Canseco was placed on three years probation by San Diego Superior Court Judge Charles Gill Aug. 5.
Canseco was in the downtown courthouse on vandalism charges April 25 when Sheriffs Cpl. Carl Gregory noticed new graffiti that same day on seats and elsewhere. Gregory took photos of the graffiti. Detectives later determined the graffiti matched what he had marked before.
Canseco, of City Heights, was arrested June 12 and he pleaded guilty to felony vandalism June 25. The previous case Canseco was charged with was dismissed after he pleaded guilty in this case.
