SAN DIEGO — The Deputy Sheriffs’ Association of San Diego County has announced the endorsement of Rep. Scott Peters, becoming the latest in a string of public-safety organizations to back Peters’ re-election campaign.
“I couldn’t be prouder of this endorsement, especially given that the Deputy Sheriffs’ Association has such a bipartisan record of supporting both Democrats and Republicans,” Peters said. “I’ve always been a staunch supporter of our public-safety officers and I’m honored to have their backing in this election.”
Matthew Clay, president of the DSA said, “Peters has a long track record of standing up for what’s right, and that includes giving our public-safety agencies the resources they need to keep us safe.”
Clay added: “Carl DeMaio, meanwhile, showed his true lack of respect for our men and women in uniform when he attended a fallen police officer’s funeral in 2010 and spent the entire time texting on his Blackberry before leaving the service early. DeMaio simply has no regard whatsoever for the men and women who put their lives on the line to keep our streets and families safe.”
In addition to the DSA, Peters has been endorsed by San Diego firefighters, San Diego lifeguards and San Diego police.
