The community will gather at the eastern end of Harvey Milk Street in the front of the San Diego LGBT Community Center for brief remarks, then take a walk of remembrance down the first street in the nation named in honor of Harvey, heading along University Avenue to Harvey Milk’s American Diner in the heart of Hillcrest for socializing, drink specials and a unified community toast to Harvey.
“This event is open to all who wish to honor Harvey Milk on his birthday,” said Steven Shultz, co-founder of the Annual Community Toast to Harvey Milk. “The goal is to fill the first Harvey Milk Street in the nation with well-wishers united in remembrance, and to bring the community together in a toast to Harvey every year on his birthday, May 22.”
