SAN DIEGO – Martinis Above Fourth will welcome Broadway World winner Robyn Spangler for her venue debut with her one woman show Why I love Linda Ronstadt with musical direction from fellow Broadway World Winner and San Diego favorite, Todd Schroeder Thursday May 29 at Martinis Above Fourth, 3940 Fourth Ave. in Hillcrest. Linda Ronstadt is best known as the queen of the “rock ballad” with her string of hits in the late ’60s and early ’70s but that’s just the beginning of a four plus decade career in music that includes almost every genre. Those who have heard Robyn sing know that crossing genres is what drew her to showcase Ronstadt’s career.
Robyn’s Linda Ronstadt tribute show at Martinis Above Fourth will serve as the official kick off party for Martinis Above Fourth’s AIDS Walk Team. Robyn is donating a portion of the proceeds from her show to Martinis’ AIDS Walk Team directly in memory of her best friend, Mark Miller, who was responsible for Robyn’s move to California and supported her during her early years.
This is Martinis Above Fourth | Table + Stage’s ninth year participating in AIDS WALK. Each year their team raises over $30,000 and has consistently been among the top 10 teams.
Broadway World Winner Robyn Spangler is quickly becoming a familiar face as she shares her “stellar artistry” (Broadway World) at the most prestigious concert and cabaret venues across the United States including The Gardenia Room in Los Angeles, Davenports in Chicago, The Arthur Newman Theatre in Palm Springs, and The Metropolitan Room in New York. Spangler recently appeared on the Summer Nights Cabaret Series at Yale University, Royce Hall in Los Angeles, the Grand Old Opry in Nashville and Carnegie Hall in New York.
