Obama to name two openly LGBT individuals to AAPI Commission

President Barack Obama today announced his intention to appoint fourteen individuals to the President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI), including two who are openly LGBT, reports HRC.

Actor Maulik Pancholy, best known for his roles on 30 Rock and Weeds, and businessman Michael Byun, who also serves on the Ohio Governor’s AAPI Advisory Council, are joining the Commission, which is charged with working to improve the quality of life of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders through increased participation in and access to federal programs.

The AAPI can be a powerful tool for LGBT members of the Asian American and Pacific Islanders community, and we look forward to continuing to work with the Commission and the White House on issues that are important to the AAPI LGBT community.
