SAN DIEGO – Fresh off last weekend’s triumphant sold-out spring shows, the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus (SDGMC) is holding open auditions for its upcoming summer show, the spectacular LUV Madonna—Music of the Material Girl.
“I’ve been singing with the chorus for over 15 years and absolutely love it,” said Joe Gregore, SDGMC membership director. “We have so much fun. The guys are amazing and each rehearsal and performance is uplifting and puts a smile on your face.”
In addition to talented singers, for the first time in its history, the chorus is also seeking to add a full-fledged dance troupe for those who love to dance. The chorus also needs volunteers for its Operations team to help with the “behind-the-scenes” activities at each show and during special projects and events.
Anyone interested in auditioning should pre-register at sdgmc.org and click the “Join Us” link or call (877) 296-7664. Auditions will be held on Thursday and Saturday evenings, April 17 and 19 at 2961 1st Ave. in Bankers Hill. All singers, dancers and volunteers are encouraged to attend “Info Night” on Wednesday, April 16 at 7 p.m. at the same location, 2961 1st Ave. in Bankers Hill.
All singers joining will begin rehearsing April 21 for LUV Madonna—Music of the Material Girl including three newly commissioned Madonna songs and production numbers created just for this show. The concerts will take place on Saturday, July 12 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, July 13 at 3 p.m. at the historical and beautiful Balboa Theatre in downtown San Diego.
