12th annual ‘Children’s Easter Egg Hunt:’ April 20

Last year about 500 children and their families gathered for the Imperial Court de San Diego’s annual Children’s Easter Egg Hunt at  Trolley Barn Park on Adams Avenue in University Heights. Founded by City Commissioner Nicole Murray Ramirez and grandmother Linda Childs this has now become an annual tradition co-sponsored by Family Matters, The LGBT Center and the 3rd District City Council Office of Council President Todd Gloria.
Each year, The Children’s Easter Egg Hunt receives wide support from diverse groups and businesses such as the Fire Fighters Union, the Municipal Employees Union, Target, Wal-Mart, The Eagle San Diego, Redwing Bar and Grill, Numbers Nightclub, Urban Mo’s and the Mo’s Universe, the Leather Coalition and many others.
“This year Mayor Kevin Faulconer has donated Easter baskets as well as many other elected officials,” stated co-founder Murray Ramirez.
The 2014 Children’s Easter Egg Hunt will be held Easter Sunday April 20 at Trolley Barn Park starting with registration at 12 p.m. and is expected to draw a huge crowd and store bought Easter baskets are badly needed. This event is presented free to all the families through 100 percent donations.
“Store bought Easter baskets can be dropped off at The Center (3909 Center Street) and Harvey Milk’s American Diner at 6th and University in Hillcrest or you can purchase an egg at Harvey Milk’s for $5 in support of the event,” stated Imperial Court President Mario Ortega. “Each year we make sure every child leaves with a basket.”
