While the CW is best known for soapy teen dramas, often with a supernatural twist, the also-ran network is not known for high quality. But it should be. The new sci-fi shows on TV this year have huge budgets on ABC and Fox, but they’re better written and more interesting on the CW. Star-Crossed is just the latest. It’s Romeo & Juliet crossed with District 9, with Juliet (Emery, played by Aimee Teegarden) the human daughter of the man running the camp housing aliens, including Romeo (Roman, played by Matt Lanter). The concept is a bit ingenious, and the show is tautly written. Both Lanter (30) and Teegarden (24) are way too old to be playing high school students, but they smolder.
