SAN DIEGO – Home and Healthy for the Holidays is back for a second year, Dec. 5, 5-8 p.m., at W Hotel, 421 West B Street in San Diego.
Family Health Centers of San Diego will once again use the power of fun to raise money for a very real and compelling need – health care for the homeless. Proceeds from the event will help provide homeless men, women and children with access to the medical care and mental health services they need to rebuild their lives.
According to a 2010 survey, downtown San Diego homeless persons cost local healthcare systems more than $25 million in inpatient admissions and emergency room visits. Family Health Centers of San Diego can provide high quality, compassionate care to an average patient for an entire year at a cost that is 32 percent less than one trip to the ER. In 2012, Family Health Centers of San Diego provided more than 25,000 homeless patient visits.
The event will feature live music, hors d’oeuvres, hosted beer and wine, a silent auction and Family Health Centers of San Diego’s passport experience, where you can learn more about Family Health Centers of San Diego. No speeches – just fun!
Tickets are $120 ($20 off if you purchase before Nov. 25) and are on sale now at fhcsd.org. The presenting sponsor is Union Bank.
An impressive list of local dignitaries comprise the host committee including Congresswoman Susan Davis, Assembly Majority Leader Toni Atkins, Board of Supervisors Chairman Greg Cox, Supervisor Ron Roberts, Interim Mayor Todd Gloria, Councilmember Kevin Faulconer, Councilmember David Alvarez, former Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher and former Mayor Jerry Sanders.
