‘Everyone is Gay’ launches Indiegogo campaign to support parents

NEW YORK – Today, National Spirit Day, Everyone Is Gay will launch an IndieGoGo campaign to raise funds for a new,one-of-its-kind digital presence to help parents of LGBTQ youth. The project will feature a video series that highlights stories from parents and children surrounding the “coming out” moment, and will also include advice from Kristin Russo and Dannielle Owens-Reid, the organization’s co-founders, who have been in dialogue with LGBTQ youth for the past four years.

With more than 6,000,000 page views to date, Everyone Is Gay began as an advice Web site for all with a focus on LGBTQ youth. The site uses humor and honesty to promote kindness and communication.

Russo and Owens-Reid noticed that a large number of their queries came from young people seeking guidance on how to talk to their parents. In response to this, they are now working to create a comprehensive digital presence for parents whose kids have just come out to them.

Everyone Is Gay aims to raise $50,000 through their IndieGoGo campaign in order to fund this project, and the campaign will run through Nov. 18.

One of the featured rewards of the campaign will be a digital compilation of music entitled The Gayest Compilation Ever Made: Volume 2, including songs by artists such as Justin Pierre, Jenny Owen Youngs, and Allison Weiss. This compilation is a sequel The Gayest Compilation Ever Made, which was released in conjunction with a successful indiegogo campaign Russo and Owens-Reid launched in 2011.
