PORTLAND, Ore. – adidas America today announced its endorsement of the Freedom to Marry and Religious Protection Initiative that would make it legal for same-sex couples to marry in Oregon.
“Marriage is an important, individual choice that should be extended to everyone. It is time to recognize this important human right by affirming the freedom to marry for same-sex couples in Oregon. Inclusion and diversity are important tenets for our company and employees and we want to extend those values across this state. We are proud to support Oregon United for Marriage in its campaign to extend the freedom to marry to loving, committed couples, no matter their gender,” said adidas America Vice President Paul Ehrlich.
“We are grateful for the bold and early support of adidas America,” said Jeana Frazzini, Chair of Oregon United for Marriage. “Oregon is uniting to affirm the freedom to marry at the ballot next November. We are proud to have adidas America, an Oregon business leader, join our coalition. Support for the freedom to marry is consistent with what businesses stand for. Business leaders believe in treating others as one would want to be treated.”
adidas is the largest business to join Oregon United for Marriage’s effort to secure the freedom to marry on the ballot in November 2014. The Portland Trail Blazers and the Portland Timbers, both adidas partners, announced their support of this initiative last week.
Oregon United for Marriage is a broad coalition of individuals and organizations working to win the freedom to marry for same-sex couples in Oregon.
