The California Men’s Gatherings (CMG) has announced that its 78th weekend retreat will be held Nov. 22-25, 2013, at Camp Stevens in Julian, Calif. The theme this year is Inside of Me which symbolizes transformation and immortality. Defining Inside of Me the CMG Web site states, “The challenges men face in all our diversity are never easy. What is it that we see when we finally take the time to slow down and gaze inward?”
The Web site continues, “The gathering will provide communal settings, workshops and a hilarious talent show that will allow everyone to safely share who we are, the good and the bad, so that we might discover our hero, mentor, artist, lover and perhaps magician. Allow yourself to be inspired by nature and to celebrate the inner qualities that reside within each of us. So come join over a hundred men at Camp Stevens for a weekend of camaraderie and discovery!”
The California Men’s Gatherings (CMG) is a California community of thousands of men who get together for all sorts of events – from the healing to the hilarious and the sacred to the silly – from personal growth workshops to pool parties to theater outings to Heart Circles, and their very own trademark Puppy Piles.
Each of the gatherings (spring, summer and fall) are an extended weekend retreat where men explore different ways of looking at life and expand concepts of self while having a lot of fun. The weekends and gatherings that some call “Summer Camp for Men” are held five times a year. A local CMG event is held almost every week somewhere in the state, with no membership dues at all.
Since 1978, the organization has been a place where all men – gay, bi, transgender and straight, from 18-80+ can find a different way to connect, a little more openly, a little more honestly and with a little less fear with some truly unique and supportive men.
