Harvey Milk’s American Diner

Dear Editor,

When I first heard the name “Harvey Milk’s American Diner” I wondered, is that a good idea? But then I thought, if someone had asked Harvey Milk if they could use his name for a diner, he probably would have said. “You want to use my name for a diner? Just make damn sure the food is good.”

And it is. We tried it. I’m not sure what all the hissing is about, but the food is great and the prices reasonable. It’s actually better than before because everything’s fresh and made from scratch. I guess it’s the fact that it’s different that has everyone off balance. I mean canned hash and spam have their place – great for a camping trip. But with a world of fresh ingredients and a big kitchen, this diner is doing it right.

Try it before your knee jerks. We did. Tasted great, friendly service, and fabulous desserts, too, made by a reputable pastry chef.

My hat’s off to Big Mike. He’s a giver. Be nice.
