Bob Filner and Bronwyn …

Bob Filner and Bronwyn Ingram in San Francisco

Former Mayor Bob Filner and his former fiancée Bronwyn Ingram’s recent weekend rendezvous in San Francisco certainly got a lot of San Diegans talking … and yes, more confused about these two and their relationship.

After all, Bronwyn’s breakup with Bob was very public and she missed no opportunity to bash him and kick him while he was down. She claims she never knew anything about Bob’s behavior for almost all the four years she was with him – though others feel otherwise. Bronwyn has stuck to her story and played her innocent maiden role like a true actress and even joined loud-mouth attorney Gloria Allred in bashing Filner even more. Well, they did make a good media team … like Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker I would say.

Let me make myself perfectly clear, as the founder of Team First Lady and its co-chair along with prominent and respected San Diegan civic leader Nancy Chase, I do believe Bronwyn Ingram was sincere about her caring about the homeless and other important issues, and I feel she did her best to make a difference and do good. But, I also know she loved the spotlight and media attention and grew to really enjoy her title and status as the “First Lady of San Diego;” and I certainly am not one to criticize a fellow media loving queen … well, in her case “princess.”

What I and others are upset about is that Bronwyn’s actions certainly were hypocritical, two-faced, and yes, back-stabbing. After kicking Bob Filner in the balls, as it were, and telling the media what a bad and awful person he is, she then sneaks off to San Francisco last week and walks with him arm in arm and is beyond chummy. Will the real Bronwyn please stand up!

And then once the media reports on their romantic weekend, what does Bronwyn do … well, get loud-mouth attorney Gloria Allred to issue a press release on her behalf of course!

And what is Bronwyn now claiming? Well, that Bob and she are “not back together” and he followed her to San Francisco and apologized again “tearfully and profusely” and she has “no plans to see him again.” All these statements through her attorney Gloria Allred.

We San Diegans really don’t care Bronwyn, as your 15 minutes of fame are over and we just want your personal soap opera to end. Thank you for all your good deeds for so many San Diegans, but just stay in Los Angeles and stop sending out media releases and granting media interviews because we’re done with all of this … period.

It seems that some prominent San Diegans were planning to attend a private birthday party for Bronwyn this past Tuesday night in Hillcrest but after hearing about her on-going media drama with Bob in San Francisco, many changed their minds and the party was supposedly canceled.

Truthfully, I still wish Bob Filner the very best and I continue to look at his entire record as a public servant and it was a solidly good one when it came to civil rights and being a voice and champion for so many important causes and communities.

But as for you, Bronwyn, please keep your love/hate relationship to yourself and stop being a hypocrite as San Diego wants to move on and we have begun a new chapter in our city’s history.

And by the way, your new hair style and look is very appealing and, who knows, maybe there can be another older congressman or public official in your future.

Bye, bye Bronwyn!

  1. Why are you attacking this lady? Who are you to judge her? You say you are a religious spiritual person? Is this ANOTHER example of how you are changing the “tone” of your column?

  2. Why do you have your panties in a wad about Bronwyn? Nicole is more upset about Bronwyn than the betrayal of trust by Filner to the city.I have yet to hear Nicole speak of Filner in anything less than regret that he is suffering unjustly. It wasnt Bronwyn that made him a disgusting creep,he did that all on his own and he deserves everything that happens to him and I hope Filner has to pay back every dime he swindled from the voters!

  3. The choicest part of this drivel of a column was the comment, “She (Bronwyn) then sneaks off to San Francisco last week and walks with him arm in arm and is beyond chummy. Will the real Bronwyn please stand up!”

    WTF???

Will the real Bob Filner please stand up? If this woman is so vile, why is HE being chummy with her? If he didn’t like her so much, he wouldn’t want to be around her, but he is. What is really going on?

Nicole supported Filner, gloated when Filner won, and refused to do the right thing when the sex scandal came out (encouraging his “friend” Filner to resign). We all saw the handwriting on the wall with regard to Filner before the election. This smear piece on Bronwyn is just a bit of deflection on Nicole’s part. You helped Filner – and bragged about it – and ended up with egg on your face. Time to face up to your role in all of this and stop smearing other people to take everyone’s attention off of YOU.

  4. And another thing, Nicole, maybe you and all the other gloating Filner supporters should pick up the bill for the millions of dollars this special election is going to cost San Diego. Way to go!!
