Faulconer, Alvarez confirmed for mayoral debate in Barrio Logan

SAN DIEGO – Councilmember Kevin Faulconer and Councilmember David Alvarez have confirmed they will participate in a mayoral debate at Family Health Centers of San Diego’s Spirit of the Barrio Luncheon Sept. 27. Former Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher has been invited but has not confirmed his participation.

The forum will address the most pressing issues facing the City of San Diego and its neighborhoods. Attendee’s interested in submitting questions for consideration may send them to foundation@fhcsd.org prior to the event.

Family Health Centers of San Diego has conducted candidate forums at Spirit of the Barrio luncheons throughout its history as a way to help better inform the community and elected leaders about important issues of the day. Last year, Family Health Centers of San Diego hosted a mayoral forum featuring Bob Filner, Bonnie Dumanis, Carl DeMaio and Nathan Fletcher. A 2010 forum featured City Council candidates.

For more than 25 years, “Spirit of the Barrio” luncheons have raised critical support for Family Health Centers of San Diego’s programs and services. More than 500 supporters including individuals, businesses, corporate sponsors, political and community leaders attend each event to enjoy a famous tamale lunch, and gather for networking, education, entertainment and community building.

The luncheon will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Logan Heights Family Health Center located at 1809 National Ave. in San Diego, CA  92113.  Tickets to the event are $25 a person or $200 for a table of ten and can be purchased by calling 619-515-2562.
