After two years of waiting for reconstruction to complete, Obelisk Mercantile is hosting a “Grand Opening Weekend” event to feature their new location, new design and new retailing focus.
The “Grand Opening Party” is Friday, Aug. 16 from 7-11 p.m. Sip champagne in the pink glow of the old Hillcrest street sign, now a featured showpiece of their new look! A limited supply of gift bags will be distributed, and five Storm of London designer watches will be given out during a free raffle.
There will be a “Grand Opening Weekend” discount of 10 percent off the entire store all weekend long – From opening on Friday, Aug 16 through closing Sunday, Aug. 18.
Obelisk, Inc. has been a beloved staple of the Hillcrest community since 1993. Originally a LGBT bookstore, Obelisk was in the middle of a transformation away from the dying book industry when the store was destroyed in a massive fire one week before the Gay Pride Parade of July, 2011.
Obelisk has now re-opened in a much larger location (just two doors from the old location), with a brand new vintage industrial design, and an all new selection of merchandise. Obelisk is now a specialty boutique focusing on exclusive apparel brands, fashionable watches and jewelry, unique gift items, award-winning mens skincare, and vintage-industrial housewares (and maybe a couple books).
