Gay rumors continue as Tim Duncan’s divorce moves forward

Despite an accomplished career on the court, Tim Duncan, NBA power forward/center for the Antonio Spurs, is facing a barrage of rumors about his sexuality as stories about the reason behind a divorce gag order move into overdrive. The 14-time NBA All-Star has long been the subject of gossip and conjecture about his sexuality. But news reports that the 6’ 11” athlete is demanding silence from Amy Duncan, his wife of 12 years, during their divorce are only adding fuel to the fire. Many suspect that she was prepared to go public with Duncan’s not-so-secret relationship with his best friend, a man he has known since his days at Wake Forest University.

“[S]ource[s] also confirms that the 37-year-old basketball player is trying to place a gag order on Amy that would prohibit her from discussing their divorce in public and, in turn, keep the details of his alleged bisexuality and homosexual extramarital affair secret. But the divorce is slightly more involved than just Tim’s indiscretions, as he reportedly had his wife followed and uncovered that she was having an affair with their trainer,” reports LatinTimes.com.

Of course, having this anonymous friend living with them in the same house for the first two years of their marriage (or purportedly buying a condominium for him nearby) did nothing to tamp down speculation. But the fact that she was carrying on with her trainer indicates that, at the very least, it may have been a marriage of convenience. “Tim knows Amy was cheating on him but he’s willing to give her whatever she wants, because he doesn’t want Amy to tell the world that he’s bisexual.”

His teammates, however, have attempted to quash speculation. In a recent radio interview, fellow Antonio Spur, Danny Green, was unapologetically supportive of Duncan during a radio interview with New York-based radio station Power 105.1’s morning program. “Timmy is Tim. I’m not going to look at him any differently. He’s my teammate regardless of his sexual preferences. I haven’t heard anything about it and I definitely haven’t suspected anything. He’s going through some stuff, and that’s what happens when you go through a divorce sometimes. It gets ugly.”
