Two leave San Diego LGBT Pride board

San Diego LGBT Pride announced today that Ebony Aldridge will be leaving her position at Pride and moving on to work on other opportunities. Ebony thanked the board, staff and community for affording her the opportunity to lead the organization through another successful event this year.

Additionally, William Rodriguez-Kennedy has resigned his post as co-chair-elect in order to pursue his passion of creating change and affecting policy in the political arena of the City and County of San Diego. Pride wishes him much success in those endeavors.

“On behalf of the San Diego LGBT Pride board of directors, staff, and even the community, we want to thank both Ebony and William for all their hard work, dedication and passion they contributed to the team here at Pride,” stated Co-Chair Joseph Mayer.

Explaining his reason for leaving Rodriguez-Kennedy said, “This year I was part of the biggest Pride ever, and I have learned a lot in my three year term but there are ways that I want to create change and influence and be a part of the political scene and that I cannot do as the co-chair of a 501(c)(3). Thus, I leave San Diego Pride in the competent hands of Stephen Whitburn and wish the board well as they prepare to celebrate Pride’s 40th anniversary.”

“Pride is resilient. Although we have work to do in building the board’s membership, experience and resources, I want to assure you that the executive team is committed and we will make that happen!  Pride is a big commitment of time and energy but you can look at the results and see that it is worth it,” said Mayer.
