The Nicky Awards board of governors have announced District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis as the recipient of this year’s Mayor Moscone Award. Police Chief Bill Lansdowne and Sheriff Bill Gore will present the prestigious award to Dumanis at the 38th annual Nicky Awards, Aug. 25.
According to the board, Dumanis is receiving the award because ” … of her being a national role model of a top elected law enforcement official with a record of integrity, fairness and leadership.”
Dumanis also holds the historic distinction of being the first elected LGBT district attorney in the United States. “Bonnie Dumanis has been an outstanding and dedicated public servant both as a Superior Court Judge and now as a district attorney” stated Nicky Awards President Allan Spyere. “She is a true role model for so many, especially young women and LGBT youth.”
The Nicky Awards, “The Gay Academy Awards of San Diego”, will be held Sunday, Aug. 25 at 6 p.m. at the Marriott Mission Valley.

Seriously? She is the most vindictive, short sighted, incompetent District Attorney ever! She chooses to spend precious resources shutting down the local medical marijuana dispensaries, assisting the Federal bullies and prosecuting collective owners who are absolutely no danger to anyone. She puts her own Republican agenda ahead of the best interests of the citizens of San Diego. tyvm.

The LGBT crowd has been smoking something to even consider giving the Nicky award to this egotistical hack, And BTW, having Sheriff Gore give Bonnie an “integrity” award is too ridiculous for words. Neither one would know “integrity if it hit them in their faces! Worthless award!
Very disheartening news. It makes me sad for my daughter who is gay that the local leaders of LGBT would award an undeserving recepient for “integrity”, just because she is gay. I would expect better from those who have fought hard for civil justice.
Dear Gay friends, please think twice before you give the Nicky to Bonnie. There are so many more deserving lesbians out there who would appreciate it. Bonnie will just put it on her shelf and let it collect dust. She does not care about anything but herself. Really, it would be best if she packed up and went back to Beantown–where she comes from. Here’s hoping Bob Brewer kicks Dumanis out of office because she is a terrible D.A. and an even worse role model.
George Moscone and Harvey Milk are rolling over in their graves. Trust me when i tell you. If not for all those deaths from AIDS, NONE of this would be happening. There is an entire generation gone who would have not have allowed any of this to happen, None of it. AG
