San Diego was never given the opportunity to see this road trip film about two aging lesbians, Dot and Stella (Oscar winners Olympia Dukakis and Brenda Fricker), on the run from a nursing home. The only way they can prevent Dot from being forced into elder care by her granddaughter is to escape to Canada where same-sex marriage is legal; on the way they pick up a young hitchhiker who needs some grand-mothering. Written and directed by Thom Fitzgerald, the movie played the festival circuit last year, and I’m excited it will finally be available to the general public. I still haven’t seen it.
