‘The Amazing High Heel Race’ is back: June 15

The Amazing High Heel Race

Girl, break in those heels! The Amazing High Heel Race is coming back into town for it’s 3rd annual appearance  Saturday June 15 when high-heel clad individuals will race through Hillcrest on a journey throughout the neighborhood. At the conclusion of the race, participants will gather at Gossip Grill for an awards celebration and party.

First held in 2011, The Amazing High Heel Race was the initial fundraiser for the Hillcrest Pride Flag, which was installed last summer. The flag has ongoing maintenance needs, and the Hillcrest Business Association, which maintains the flag pole site, plans to build an LGBT historical monument at the pole’s base.

As a Hillcrest enthusiast we need everyone to help make The Amazing High Heel Race as wild and exciting as possible. The most important rule: you must wear heels while competing in an outrageous race throughout the Hillcrest business district.

You are  encouraged to dress up, get rowdy, and show off your swagger in heels at least 3 inches high (yes, we’ll be measuring).  You can make your own team as large as you want, just be sure to register individually. And join us at the Heel Relief after party at the finish line.

Cost of entry per individual is only $35! Organizers call the event a “celebration of diversity, an exercise in unity, and a total investment in enhancing the quality of life in San Diego’s most vibrant neighborhood.”
