San Francisco Pride announces its 2013 celebrity grand marshal line up

The San Francisco Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Pride Celebration Committee and Board of Directors has announced its 2013 SF Pride’s Celebration and Parade’s Celebrity Grand Marshal line-up. SF Pride Celebrity Grand Marshal selections honor the work that the individuals have contributed in furthering the causes of the LGBT community.
“It is with such great excitement that we publicly congratulate the official 2013 celebrity grand marshals as they particularly reflect this year’s powerful theme of ‘Embrace, Encourage and Empower.’ The board of directors and I look forward to joining them over the 2013 SF Pride weekend, which runs from June 29-30 with various events across the Bay Area!,” said San Francisco Pride CEO Earl Plante.

Cheyenne Jackson

Recently named Out magazine’s “Entertainer of the Year,” Cheyenne Jackson is a multi-talented actor, singer, and songwriter. He is currently appearing in Steven Soderbergh’s film Behind the Candelabra opposite Michael Douglas and Matt Damon on HBO, and will be seen (later this year) co-starring opposite Gena Rowlands in the feature film Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks. Jackson is currently in San Francisco singing the role of Tony in West Side Story with the San Francisco Symphony. The show will be recorded and released as a cast album in 2014

Thomas Roberts is an accomplished, award-winning American journalist who, since April 2010, has served as a news anchor for MSNBC Live on weekdays at11 am. In addition to anchoring MSNBC, Roberts also serves as a fill-in host on MSNBC’s First Look and NBC’s TODAY.

During his early career, he served as a correspondent for CBS News as well as for the entertainment programs Entertainment Tonight and The Insider. Prior to that, Roberts was a news anchor for CNN Headline News.

He is the first African American to win an Oscar® for directing and producing a film, short or feature. Williams began his career producing political satire for Comedy Central and Michael Moore’s Emmy award winning series TV Nation. He went on to work as a broadcast journalist for ABC, NBC, MSNBC and CNN.  He has also produced and directed numerous primetime specials for PBS, ABC, CBS, Sundance Channel, and New York Times Television. He has won numerous awards, including a NAMIC Vision Award and the National Headliner for Best Human Interest Feature documentary. His latest film, God Loves Uganda, premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival in the US Documentary Competition and received rave reviews.  Williams has several projects in development including Traveling While Black, a trans-media project, and a narrative project about the African American Baptist church entitled Black Sheep.

Tabatha Coffey is an Australian hairstylist, salon owner, and television personality. Her participation as a contestant on the television show Shear Genius led to her own fame in the USA.  An out lesbian, Coffey has been in a relationship with her partner for more than a decade. Coffey, who lost her mother to cancer in 2010, works with Hackensack University Medical Center cutting wigs for children with cancer. This commitment resulted in a partnership beginning in 2011 with St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a nonprofit organization that raises money for childhood cancer research by hosting worldwide head-shaving events. Tabatha recently was honored at Logo’s fourth annual NewNowNext Awards where she snagged the coveted “Most Addictive Reality Star” title.

  1. With the strike down of DOMA and gays allowed to marry in California there won’t be any other grand marshals than entertainers? Try to get some folks instrumental in this glorious day
