The Met to welcome MLK Jr. Community Choir June 2

Martin Luther King Jr. Community Choir San Diego

The Metropolitan Community Church of San Diego (The Met) will not let being on the route of the San Diego Rock ‘n Roll Marathon keep them from offering worship to the community Sunday, June 2.  While there will be none of the usual services that morning, the church invites everyone to join them in worship at the special time of 6 p.m. when their special guests will be the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Choir, filling the service and sanctuary with what promises to be uplifting, spirit-filled music.

The MLK Choir is a volunteer organization of singers from San Diego County and Temecula with a broad repertoire of gospel music, spirituals, anthems and classical works.  They have performed throughout California and Europe, educating audiences on the history and impact of spirituals and gospel music. They fund educational grants to qualifying high school seniors who are pursuing higher education in the visual and performing arts.  Their choir’s appearance is a highlight of the church’s calendar each year.

The Met is located at 2633 Denver Street at Clairemont Drive, just east of I-5 and Mission Bay Park.  Their Web site proclaims that they “provide uplifting worship with great music, relevant sermons, warm fellowship and prayer that celebrate all as unique, loved creations of God.”  For more about the church, visit themetchurch.org.
