SAN DIEGO — Today, Environmental Health & Justice Campaign (EHJC), an organization that fights toxic pollution in disadvantaged communities south of I-8, endorsed candidate Lorena Gonzalez in the race for Assembly District 80. The environmental justice organization says that Gonzalez will work hard to improve the health and economic well-being of the community members for years to come.
“We want to an assemblymember with a proven track record as an effective advocate and community organizer in our neighborhoods,” said Diane Takvorian, executive director of EHJC. “We believe Gonzalez’s dedication and persistence to achieving justice and looking to the community for solutions will translate into meaningful positive change for our communities.”
Takvorian says that Gonzalez has worked passionately for economic and environmental justice for years and is a long-time friend and ally to EHJC. She says that Gonzalez is committed to achieving clean air, middle class green jobs and healthy, safe neighborhoods.
“It is important that we have an elected official in Sacramento who will take a leadership role in achieving a greater quality of life for everyone,” said Takvorian. “We believe Gonzalez representing our voices in Sacramento will restore the community’s hope and optimism for future.”
