Concert pianist Romero, a San Diego native with Guadalajara heritage, has a stellar reputation for both the technical brilliance and interpretive depth of his playing, as well as his commitment to in-depth exploration of individual composers. Showcasing 21 objects from the Suzhou Museum this exhibition highlights selections from China’s long and rich cultural history. Located only 66 miles west of Shanghai, Suzhou is often called the “Venice of China” because of its numerous canals intertwining the historic dwellings and gardens of its illustrious residents. Exhibited alongside the museum’s state of the art new display The Art of East Asia the selection of works has been made specifically to complement those of the museum’s permanent collection.
