Hate group launches email campaign urging people to ‘call BSA board members to uphold Scouting values’

Tony Perkins

Following the Boy Scouts of America Board of Directors announcement that they were reconsidering the ban on gay Scouts and Scout leaders, the Family Research Council (FRC), which the Southern Poverty Law Center has labeled a hate group, has launched an email campaign urging people to phone members of the BSA board of directors and urge them “to stand strong and true to their timeless values.”

The email then lists more than 20 BSA board members together with their phone numbers.

Finally to ensure their message of hate really does get through they include a sample phone script!

From the script:

“Please do not jeopardize the safety and moral integrity of Scouting in the interest of social activism. The proposal to relegate the decision on homosexual leaders to local chartered organizations sends the wrong signal from the national body: that political correctness ultimately triumphs over character.”

The letter is signed by FRC president, Tony Perkins.

  1. Just because the Southern Poverty Law Center has labeled the Family Research Council a hate group does not make it so. Someone needs to retake their college reasoning and logic classes.

  2. The SPLC is spot-on in labeling the FRC a hate group, because that is exactly what they are, a group of people filled with hatred towards anyone who they deem undesirable. What is more hate filled than, “Put all the homosexuals behind an electric fence to die off.” FRC is rightfully labeled a hate group. FAMILY? Yea, good job, traditional family, of creating a nation of alcholic teenagers, drug addicts and teen pregnancies. Go BSA. Backing you all the way in your move towards equality for all.
