SAN DIEGO — Lambda Archives of San Diego has announced the induction of three new members to their board of directors. Members Conor Foley, Mary Marchan, and Thomas Negron Jr. were recently elected to the board at Lambda Archives’ annual meeting Dec. 1, 2012.
Conor Foley studies LGBT Studies and English at SDSU and plans to graduate this spring. Foley chose to serve on Lambda Archives’ Board of Directors to supplement his pursuit of a Master’s in Library and Information Science. He currently works in SDSU Library’s Special Collections and University Archives Department, and volunteers at the Hillcrest Youth Center.
In Mary Marchan’s own words, “I am a queer woman of color in a local riot grrrl band, Mermaid. I have been involved in several events in and outside of San Diego to educate and mobilize people around issues of social justice, particularly women’s issues.” Marchan recently completed her Bachelor’s in Women’s Studies at SDSU this past winter.
Thomas Negron Jr. began working for the LGBT community in the Imperial Valley, where he helped to create the first conference with a focus on LGBTQ Youth in the region. With SDSU’s recently established LGBT Major, Negron took the opportunity to move to San Diego and learn more about the history of queer people. Negron currently studies Liberal Studies and LGBT Studies at SDSU.
Maureen Steiner and Mel Merrill continue as President and Treasurer, respectively.
