The board of directors of Stepping Stone of San Diego has announced that Catherine Aquino, B.S., M.D. will assume the role of interim chief executive director of the organization. Aquino, who has worked at Stepping Stone since 2008 and was promoted to director of operations in 2011, will begin this interim role immediately.
John DeMiranda, former chief executive officer and executive director, is no longer with Stepping Stone. The board will soon begin its search for a permanent CEO, as part of a restructuring of the administration of the organization.
Aquino has the full support of the board, who are confident that she will provide the leadership needed to ensure that Stepping Stone continues to deliver the level of services the San Diego LGBT community has come to expect from the organization.
Founded in 1976, Stepping Stone, exists to create, improve and deliver alcohol and other drug treatment, HIV and other health interventions, recovery, education and prevention services specializing in the challenges of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities of the San Diego region.
