The Log Cabin Republicans Endorse Romney

The Log Cabin Republicans (LCR) have endorsed Mitt Romney for president of the United States. LCR is a goup of LGBT people who identify with most Republican Party values. The group’s email endorsement was entitled “We are Americans first.”

“The decision to endorse is the right one for our members, our community, and for the nation as a whole,” said Log Cabin Republicans Executive Director, R. Clarke Cooper. “Despite our disagreement with Governor Romney on the issue of marriage, on balance it is clear that in today’s economic climate, concern for the future of our country must be the highest priority. We are Republicans, and we agree with Governor Romney‘s vision for America in which success is a virtue, equal opportunity is ensured, and leaders recognize that it is the American people, not government, that build our nation and fuel its prosperity. On issues of particular concern to the LGBT community, we believe Governor Romney will move the ball forward compared to past Republican presidents. No matter who is in the White House, it is crucial our community always has a credible voice speaking out on behalf of LGBT Americans. Log Cabin Republicans will be that voice to President Mitt Romney.”

The LCR endorsemet of Romney is in spite of the candidate’s support of a proposed federal marriage amendment to the constitution to prevent same sex marriagesupport of  the Defense of Marriage Act and the concept that states should decide whether same sex couples should have hospital visitation “benefits.”

  1. The Log Cabin Republicans should be ASHAMED of themselves for endorsing Romney. Romney supports a constitutional amendment to deny marriage equality, opposes ENDA and even opposed the repeal of DADT. Log Cabin is clearly is an organization that is working against the interests of the LGBT community. Shame!

I seem to recall pres obama’s stance on marriage as being between one man and one woman when he was running in 2008. So who did you vote for then? If you voted for obama in 2008 then you should also be ASHAMED! Who are you to judge!

      1. President Obama has always opposed DOMA and has always opposed a constitutional amendment to declare marriage between a man and a woman.

Obama specifically was asked in 2008 by a evangelical preacher at saddleback church to define marriage . And his answer was marriage is between one man and one woman! Period! Check it out on youtube Now since its in his political interest he changed his position.
