‘In the Life’ public TV show about LGBT issues shuttering

In the Life

A monthly television newsmagazine show that highlights LGBT issues on public TV will end in December.

The company that makes “In the Life” is going out of business. Archives of its programs and material from them will be archived for online access at an undetermined point in the future. The interim executive director of In the Life Media cited funding as the problem.

“In the Life” began as a variety show in 1992 and evolved into a newsmagazine,” said Ellen Carton. “It is available at the beginning of each month and is shown on about 200 public television stations at different times.”

Carton believes the show has succeeded in raising awareness to a particular audience about LGBT issues.
