Access Hollywood is reporting that The X Factor contestant and former Britney Spears duet partner for 1998’s “I Will Still Love You,” Don Philip was bullied into coming out on last Wednesday’s season premier, and that’s why his performance was sub-par.
“It was kind of a private thing they forced out of me,” Philip claimed to Access on Thursday. “I would say bullied out of me.”
According to Philip, he was pressed into coming out during his interview prior to the performance, but that “10-minute” portion was edited out of what viewers saw during the broadcast. Not only did that throw him off of his game in terms of singing, he told the New York Post that the disclosure about his sexual orientation, purportedly pressured out of him, also caused him to have suicidal thoughts once he was home and had been voted off the show due to a performance that even old pal Spears criticized.
